The thirty-seventh president of the United States of America, Richard M. Nixon, deserves a C+ for his term. As a result of the Watergate scandal, he resigned during his second administration, becoming the only president in the country's history to leave office in this manner. The 2,026 days he spent as president were marked not only by significant achievements in domestic and foreign policy, but also by a constitutional crisis of unprecedented proportions. His resignation culminated a political career plagued by controversy from its inception.
President Richard M. Nixon had a lot of goals during his presidency one of them was the Reconciliation. It was so because Nation had a very difficult period of time, it was divided with turbulence in the cities and wars. President also wanted to limit the type of intervention that Eisenhower had joined in Lebanon, where the commander lead an international crisis by "sending in the marines." Another Nixon's goals were to succeed in ending American-Vietnam war and improve relationships between China and the U.S.S.R.
President Nixon had a very good relationships with the Congress. He was there before his presidency, what helped him in the future to be related to it i very decision he was making. Congress approved many of his acts and decisions. It allowed him to meet with the U.S.S.R. and China leaders in their own countries it was the first time when the president of the United States traveled to meetings by himself. What he did during his term in office was revenue sharing, the end of the draft, new anticrime laws, and a broad environmental program. He also "appointed Justices of conservative philosophy to the Supreme Court. Landing Americans to the moon was also one of the biggest and dramatic events during his presidency.
One of the most important positive outcomes during President Nixon's term was his help in stabilizing relationships between China and the Soviet Union. He met with Russian leader Leonid I. Brezhnev and produced a treaty to limit strategic nuclear weapons. Another big aspect during his presidency was in January 1973 when Nixon withdrew all American troops and soldiers from Vietnam and ending U.S. involvement in Indochina. The biggest negative outcome during Nixon's presidency was led by the "Watergate" scandal. This scandal lead the changes in the office in the Democratic National Committee. They wanted to Re-Elect the President. Many administration officials were against it but President Nixon refused to be involved in this process. Th courts found his personal tapes that he made during the political meetings which indicate that he had tried to divert the investigation.
Richard Nixon had a profound impact on today's America and "it cannot be imagined without him." Country was better after Nixon's term even though the last months were unsuccessful for him because of the "Watergate" conflict. However Nixon went through the Cold War and War with Vietnam making right decisions during this difficult period of time. That's why Nixon deserves a C+ grade for his presidency.
